And word to the wise- I would be more cautious in throwing the word 'traced' around to other artists- It's one of those words that immediately are taken as negative aspect and can really raise an artists hackles, as it's kind of a threat to an artist's integrity, since most take a lot of pride in their work the produce. It' best to avoid making those assumptions unless you have full clean evidence backing up your accusations.
I work in the comic book industry, and I am used to critiques and comments that can build an enlighten artist's perspectives- But a comment like that...I'll even admit it, I was quite peeved at your accusation.
Your better off going: "This looks like the lizard from FernGully" To avoid an... creative confrontation, unless again, you have clean evidence to support it.
Yes, what I should write is "He looks like lizard from FernGully", which is still true to me, as both characters, though definitely very different, bear some major similarities in design.
Thank you for showing my recklessness and, again, sorry for throwing such accusations.
And yes the design has it similarities, although the reference I was inspired from was not FernGully but the egg-eating monitor lizard from Rescuers Down Under!
